Recycled aggregate concrete (referred to recycled concrete, RecycledAggregate Concrete,RAC) is a new building material, its production process is asfollows: first, crack, clean, and filter concrete blocks obtained by demolishing oldbuildings through special machines, and then make recycled concrete aggregate bymixing the processing product and general aggregate together according to certainproportion and graduation, at last produce recycled aggregate concrete using therecycled concrete aggregate. Currently, the demand for concrete is huge in domesticconstruction industry, however, available natural resources gradually reduce. Ifrecycled aggregate concrete can be applied widely in the construction industryinstead of conventional concrete, the problem will be effectively resolved.Furthermore, the applications of recycled aggregate concrete have a greatsignificance to environmental protection and sustainable development. In order to study the seismic bearing capacity performance of concrete beam-column joint of recycled concrete, nine frame beam-column joint specimens usingthe recycled aggregate replacement in the rate of100%are designed, includingthree intermediate joints, two side joints and four comer joints, and joint stress inthe cracking stage, the core area-crack stage, the yield phase and the failure stage isanalyzed in this paper. Through the load cyclic loading tests, failure characteristicsof joint specimens under simulated seismic load are researched, includinghysteresis curve, the curve skeleton, stiffness degradation, ductility, stirrup strainand so on. To better estimate cracking capacity and anti-shear bearing capacity ofthe concrete frame beam-column joints, the existing cracking capacity formula ofconcrete frame joint and anti-shear bearing capacity formula of the concrete framebeam-column joints in concrete specification are amended based on test results. The finite element software ABAQUS is used to analyze the joint specimens, based on the theoretical analysis of bond-slip properties between recycled concreteand steel. The force curves and hysteresis skeleton curves of joint specimens underload are simulated considering bond and slip between longitudinal reinforcementand recycled concrete in the core area of the joint. And then, curves are comparedand analyzed according to the cracking capacity formula and seismic bearing capacity formula proposed in the paper. Finally, based on the test analysis, seismic bearing capacity theory of therecycled concrete frame beam-column is induced and the recommendations offrame beam-column joints of seismic structure are proposed in this paper.
