Transmission is one of the most important modules of drivetrain. Itscapability would affect the function of vehicle. To develop and analyze theperformance and durability of transmission is an important thing for automobile.Although methods of testing for performance and fatigue of transmission vary a lotrecently, hardly any of them are based on actual conditions. Therefore, this articlemainly focuses on the road load spectrum based transmission loading test bench.And methods of speeding up fatigue and durability tests are studied systematically.And then, in order to improve the diagnosis performance of transmission tests andshorten the time of fatigue analysis, in this article, an approach of processing andloading the road load spectrum is also proposed.First of all, the importance of testing for transmission is elaborated in thispaper. And the development status of transmission testing is involved in the article.Additionally, the theory of transmission fatigue damage is introduced, which isfollowed by a detailed study of principles and characteristics of transmissionloading test bench based on road load spectrum. Furthermore, the feasibility oftransmission loading test bench based on road load spectrum is also revealed dueto the sampled data of road load spectrum.Secondly, testing methods based on extracting and processing road loadspectrum are elaborated in accordance with features of transmission. Theimplement of rain-flow counting algorithm in processing road load spectrum isstudied in detail, as well. The algorithm is realized based on C#platform in uppercomputer. By the comparison of results using rain-flow algorithm and not, theadvantage of rain-flow counting algorithm is comprehensively studied. Byadopting the rain-flow counting algorithm in transmission fatigue and durabilitytesting, the testing time is significantly shortened. What is more, an improved rain-flow counting algorithm is also presented in this article.Finally, based on the study of domestic and foreign researches on transmissiontesting and loading systems, together with the study mentioned above, a design fortransmission loading testing system based on road load spectrum is proposed. Thefeasibility of transmission loading test bench based on road load spectrum is alsoshown by means of analyzing data acquired through the field experiment of tests.
