Fuel oil for the ignition and stable combustion plays an important role in fuel cost inthe coal-fired power plants. The oil saving in the power plants can not only reduce the costand improve the efficiency, but also be important for national energy security strategy.Complying with the energy saving, in Shanghai Wu Jing No.2Power Generation Co., Ltd.,the tiny-oil ignition technique has been applied in the2#boiler and1#boiler in succession.First of all, in this paper, the main tiny-oil ignition techniques were reviewed. Secondly,according to the actual situation of1#boiler in Shanghai Wu Jing No.2Power GenerationCo., Ltd., the double-power tiny-oil ignition technique was applied, and refitment wasdone. After the refitment, the operation data during ignition were measured, and theevaluation was conducted. Thirdly, numerical simulation was done in the ignition burnerand furnace through the commercial CFD software. At last, according to the study resultson the change of the four elements, some advices were proposed to optimize the tiny-oilignition process: choose ignition oil burner with suitable oil consumption, apply tinypulverized coal, try to reduce the speed of first air under the enough amount of first air.
