In May 2005, NDRC launched the "Medium and Long Term Energy Conservation Plan", which proposed that 38 million tons of oil should be conserved and alternated during the "Eleventh Five-Year plan" period and set it to be the first of the top-ten energy-saving projects. Coal-fired boiler unit requires large amounts of fuel oil during the ignition and stable combustion, which is an important part of power plant fuel costs. Relying on Shanghai WuJing second power generation Co.LTD "1 # furnace little-oil ignition transform" project, multilevel conditions for burner and furnace are simulated from the view of main factors affecting pulverized-coal ignition in this article. In the simulation, checking with the classical studies of the previous research was focused on.Finally this paper indicates the engineering application of the little-oil ignition in full scale. And experimental results verified the simulation accuracy. The research indicates that pulverized coal can be ignited successfully under the oil feed rate 80kg/h, 97.3% oil saved comparing to the former technology; the position of coal ignition could be put off with primary-air velocity increasing; Smaller coal particles are better to promote the ignition. Under a certain condition, an optimal coal concentration exists; with those pulverized-coal could be rapidly ignited. The result can be used to supply gist with ameliorating and designing little-oil ignition burner.
