For a certain type of inline six cylinders engine, the three-dimensional lu-brication model was solved by numerical methods through MATLAB program.FDM and FEM were used to solve Reynolds equation. The influence of structuralparameters on lubrication was analyzed, such as surface roughness, piston ringsbarrel surface height and cylinder liner circular degree. The comparison of mini-mal oil film thickness was given under diferent parameters, and distributions of oilfilm pressure and oil film thickness were showed under several crank angle degrees. At the same time, the error estimation and the merits and mesmerist of the twomethods was studied. It was found that the structural parameters have significantinfluence on lubrication property. Minimal oil film thickness reaches the minimumvalue nearby power stroke BDC. Meanwhile the oil film pressure achieves the max-imum. Convex peak contact mainly appears in BDC in the whole process. FDMand FEM have their diferent advance on diferent questions.
