Piston ring is the key to the internal combustion engine. As the development of internal combustion engine to high power, high speed and low emission, the attention of dynamical characteristics of piston ring has been attracted extensively. By studying the dynamics of piston ring, the movement rule of piston ring can be grasped, and the main influence factors of leakage in piston ring, the mechanism of lubricating oil consumption in cylinder and the lubricating oil flow in piston ring etc can be understood. Piston ring and cylinder liner is one of the most important frictional pair for internal combustion engine, and their working conditions directly affect the reliability and durability of the internal combustion engine. The friction loss of piston ring and cylinder liner frictional pair is about60%of the friction loss of internal combustion engine. Research on the dynamics of piston ring will contribute to the understanding of contact mechanism of piston ring-cylinder liner frictional pair, the distribution and flow condition of lubricating oil, etc.In this article, funded by the national natural science foundation project "Research on the oil transport mechanism in piston component of internal combustion engine", the dynamics of piston ring and its effect on the lubrication characteristics of piston ring-liner frictional pair have been studied. The results will provide a solid theoretical basis and methods for the intensive study on the dynamics of piston ring group forinternal combustion engine, the lubricating performance of piston ring-cylinder liner frictional pair and the lubricating oil flow in piston ring group.In this article, the following contents have mainly been studied.(1) Analysis of the dynamics of piston ringA multi-cylinder internal combustion engine was taken as the research object, a dynamical model of piston ring was established, and the suspension of piston ring was considered in analysis. Based on the model, the radial displacement, radial velocity and radial and axial acceleration of piston ring were calculated, and the results considering dynamical characteristics of piston ring were analyzed by comparing with those not considering dynamical characteristics of piston ring.(2) Research on the effect of the dynamics of piston ring on the lubrication characteristics of piston ring-cylinder liner frictional pair A multi-cylinder internal combustion engine was taken as the research object, the multidimensional rough analysis model of piston ring-cylinder liner frictional pair was established. In the lubrication analysis of piston ring, the average Reynolds equation was solved by using the finite difference method combined with the over relaxation iteration method (SOR). The lubrication performance of piston ring under the condition of considering and not considering the dynamics of piston ring was analyzed, including the comparative analysis between them. |
