There is many soft soil layer near river or coastal area in our country. Manyengineering facilities have been built or are being built in these places. So it isimportant to research the strengthening methods of soft soil foundation. The essaydiscusses the current situation and technical development of soft soil foundationstrengthening. Also introduces the Tianjin Port Sinochem Petrochemical Jettybank slope strengthening project using underwater vacuum pre-pressuretechnology.To strengthen underwater mud at bank slope using underwater vacuumpre-pressure technology, can reduce dredging mud quantity, shorten workingperiod, reduce project cost in the premise of ensuring stability of the bankslope,reduced environment pollution. It solved the problem of deformation andcracking of rear piles, columns and plates in the jetty in refilling constructionperiod of bank connection structure of high pile jetty, increases years of service ofthe jetty. It reduced the width of the bearing platform of high pile jetty, increasedthe usable area of inner land storage yard, increases using efficiency of storageyard.The successful application of underwater vacuum pre-pressure bank slopestrengthening technology in the project of Sinochem Petrochemical Jetty bankslope treatment resolved the key problem in design of high pile jetty in conditionof narrow bearing platform. It has significant meaning in spreading the technologyin construction of other projects in water transportation field in our country.
