This thesis analyses clearly the engineering characteristic of Tianjin new port soft clay and explains the feasibility of the drainage consolidation foundation treatment method for the soft clay of Tianjin port.On the basis of the engineering practice at Tianjin newport in the past few years and a great amount of historical data, the features of Tianjin port soft clay,such as genesis,particle fraction,structure,the correlations among physical indexes,physical and mechanical indexes,are described by geological analysis and mathematical statistics.The vane-shear test strength Cu and evolvement trend of diversified physical and mechanical index with depth of soft clay from Tianjin port are also given in the article.1.The soft clay of Tianjin port has the representative characterristic,such as high water content,high retio,high compression,low intensity and low permeability,which are proper features of soft clay, whose soft soilpellet mostly composes by silt and clay primarily.The soft clay belongs to high sensitivity ,low solidifies soil.2.The four-bladed vane shearing strength Cu and depth H assumes the linear relations of the soft clay in tianjin port , Cu = ?1.657H+8.825,whose relativity is fine and the correlation coefficient r is 0 .9775.3.In the article,substantive contrastive analysis provens that the affection of driller arts to text data of Standard Penetration Test is clear on the stage,whtich has directive meaning for engineering practice in Tianjin port.4.In the article, by synthetic study for the target of each soil horizon ,draws the conclusion which are useful for the engineering practice.5.In particular,the application of treatment approaches of Consolidation theory to soft clay is demonstrated by treatment effect analysis in Tianjin port.
