LED light intensity control system is a necessary visual equipment for controlling theairfield light intensity which can provide accurate information about the landing way andprotect the aircraft from crash in the addition of takeoff, landing, taxiing during night,poor visibility condition or other more complex cases. LED light intensity controlsystem,which nowadays we pay attention to,is the core control equipment of airportairfield dimmer system. At present, the common Airfield dimmer at home and abroadmainly used electric incandescent lamp as the main illuminant and its color is similar towhite light. We can use colorful lamp-chimney if we want to make the light looks different.This kind of dimmer has imperfection such as low efficiency, high required power, shortuseful life, complex structure, low intensity and so on. With the rapid development ofLED technology,micro-controller technology, and Accompanied by proposed the sloganof the energy saving, it has become possible to use the LED as the illuminant instead ofthe normal source.This thesis relies on the specific project, in order to realize the light intensity controlfor a single LED Airfield Dimmer, the author proposes a control solution based on thecommon Airfield dimmer by summarizeing the development status at home and abroad ofdimmer. The thesis firstly analyzes and compare LED light with the normal light, and thendescribed in detail the software and hardware design of LED Airfield Dimmer controlsystem, and highlights the main module’s design and implementation. The system uses theATMEL company’s ATmega88as the master controller to execute all-digital taskincluding controling the power circuit of the inverter by using the pulse-width modulation(PWM), then the load circuit. System design also includes a liquid crystal display,it canshow the current electric, current voltage, and current level of light. Finally, theexperimental results verify the feasibility and effectiveness of this design.
