Traditional distribution network (based on load switch) fault isolation method hasproblems that huge blackout range and very long blackout time. Recent years, the price of10kV circuit breaker dropped significantly. This paper presents a method use circuit breakerreplace load switch in distribution network. Circuit breaker itself can cut off theshort-circuit current, and this feature may change traditional distribution automation ways.Nowadays, circuit breaker in distribution network still accommodate to traditionaldistribution network fault isolation method, when the distribution network has too muchstages and short trouble occurs, switch at transformer export position will disconnect beforecircuit breaker cut off the short-circuit current.This paper use transmission network wide-area protection way, combined withdistribution network feature, give a wide-area protection way for distribution network basedon the principle of fault power balance. Analyzed the action steps of several commondistribution network by using over-current with no time limit wide-area protection method,and Matlab modling and simulation analysis the current distribution when phase short faultoccurs.This paper designs the hardware and software for wide-area protection center andwide-area protection terminal unit based on over-current with no time limit wide-areaprotection method. All the designs are used standardization module design to extendconvenient.
