As the product of highly developed human material and spiritual civilization, the citystyle image is the centralized reflection of one’s regional economical form and culture. Inrecent years, for promoting the city image and highlighting the regional characteristics,many large cities begin a city style image planning programming; and hope to form astrong and unified spiritual orientation, and build up the city’s own unique city name cardthrough scientific and integral macroscopic programming.However, the city furniture is always in the edge position of the design and receivelittle attention given by the city landscape planning design when we are in largemomentums and scales constructing the city image, which leads to it that our today’s cityfurniture still appears such weaknesses as a weaker sense of design, roughness inmanufacture, and a lack of cultural connotion, ect..“Urban Furniture” is a new word introduced from western countries. Generallyspeaking, the furniture of the city refers to the public facilities which are arranged in someof the city public space such as the city streets, the city squares and the city greenbelts,and so on. In this thesis, the writer repalces “City Furniture” by city public facilities,hoping that we can furnish our city just as decorating our home, in the progress ofconstructing the city, to make it not only more delicate and more human natured, but alsoreflect the city’s public cultural tastes and artistic accomplishment.Hence, in the light of those questions above, the thesis is tittled “the study of therelation between cityscape and urban furniture”. We first have made a survey of study ofthe current situations of the city landscape and city furniture construction at home andabroad. Chapter1,2summarize the contradiction between the construction of both citylandscape and city furniture. Second, carding the current situation problems in Chapter3and Chapter4. And expounding the inside relation of mutual influence and mutual restriction from positive and negative sides between city features and city furniture. Then,providing the solutions in Chapter5and achieving harmonious coexistence between eachother by means of controlling the overall style and the optimization of city furniture. Last,examining the previous design manners by illustrating the practical case of the cityfurniture design in the Old Town of Ningwu county in Shanxin province.The thesis combing the relationship between the city landscape and city furniture bymaking a combination of theory and practice, on the basis of which we set up severalsolutions, aiming to combine the overall and the local perspectives in the future cityconstruction to create high-quality city landscape image.
