With the sharply increasing of world’s population, global climate change and the needsof development increase of the countries, the global water supply increasingly nervous, water the most basic survival resources of the earth is facing the crisis of exhaustion andworsen. The contradiction between the increasing demand of the development of humansociety and the exhaustion of the existing water resources are more and more serious, there is no time to delay the road of the fully, the more effective utilization of the waterresources, a scientific management of water resources. Our country is a water-shortcountries, for a long time in production and life field, there still exist the seriousphenomenon of water resources waste, water management system and mechanism is notenough and perfect, with the rapid development of economy and the advancement ofurbanization, the urban water demand increase, and pipe network structure morecomplicated, the scale of pipeline more massive, pipeline leakage more serious, on theone hand, It is not only a waste of water resources and water supply and drainagefacilities which is in high quality of investment, increasing contradictions between thesupply and demand and cost of supply and demand, but also affects the economic benefitof the water supply enterprise, on the other hand, leakage will damage basis ofunderground pipeline and the public facilities, affect the safety and reliability of watersupply network and other underground pipeline. Especially in the city of water shortage, one hand is the situation of insufficient water resources, on the other hand it is the wastephenomenon that high quality water resources without using. So it is of great significancefor the water saving and sustainable development to conduct the systemic research andanalysis of the pipeline leakage, put forward and gradually implement systemic leakagecontrol strategy, economic and effective management means.(1) The reason of leakage is analyzed comprehensively, and to provide basis for theleakage control; and the approach of component analysis is proposed to quantitativeevery sections of leakage, and to make targeted leakage control (real leakage andapparent leakage); and put forward systematic solutions of leakage control. (2) The leakage control method is analyzed, methodology and basic leak detectionprinciple、the development of leak detection apparatus and equipment are discussed;multistage blocks is proposed to control the leakage, and combined with EPANETsimulation, the effect of multistage blocks in control leakage is simulated, and the effectof pressure control with pressure reducing valve、DMA management after the multistageblocks is studied.(3) The role of hydraulic model in the leakage control was analyzed, the traditionalhydraulic model based on the flow of the node and the pressure-driven hydraulic modelof the node was compared, and their role in leakage control of water supply network wasanalyzed. Particllarly the build process of pressure drive hydraulic model was analyzedand it’s effectiveness in systemic leakage control was study.(4) The idea of water balance analysis is proposed to develop leakage control which is asystematic problem, application conditions and steps of water balance analysis are givenout; the water balance test is used in leakage control of water supply network, and thedesign type、implementation conditions and process are studied; the concept of wateraudit is introduced, the method of water audit is proposed in the water supply enterprises, and the design type、implementation conditions, and the process is studied, to controlleakage with technical and manage methods. Take Shanghai fengxian Co., LTD as anexample, the effectiveness of water balance analysis system in leakage control wasverified, hoping to provide reference to the leakage control of water supply enterprises.
