In recent years as people are becoming more aware of energy, environment and human health, the optimization of internal combustion engine’s combustion and emission becomes more and more important. Because of energy wastage and pollutant emissions in transient conditions, it has become imperative for the improvement of internal combustion engine’s transient performances. On the basis of previous researches this work concentrates on the factors affecting the transient characteristics of diesel engine, and has set up to assess the various factors on the transient impact weight. So the main research in this thesis is listed as follows:1.The research builds the mean value model of turbocharged diesel engine. Based on the transfer function models of intake and exhaust systems getting from mean value model, transient response speed, an index for evaluating transient performances, has been put forward. The index can be used to analyze the affection of turbocharger rotational inertia, intake manifold volume, exhaust manifold volume and turbine flow area.2.Also based on the MVM of diesel engine, we have proposed the transient impact weight index by the theoretical evaluation. The index can be used to quantitatively analyze the transient performances’s influencing weight of different structural parameters including intake manifold volume, exhaust manifold volume and turbocharger rotational inertia.3.The research has established the numerical transient simulation model of D6114turbocharged and intercooled diesel engine by GT-power simulation software and thus has analyzed the transient performances’s influencing weight of different structural parameters, further validating the previous conclusions. In a word, the research has established a rational evaluation system for transient characteristics, which provide theoretical guidances for the optimization of turbocharged diesel engine’s transient characteristics.
