It is more and more widely applied in exhibition center, the stadiumand other large industrial and civil building construction, which spacetruss structures are beautiful design and reasonable force and arecrowded places. They are prone to becoming the targets of terroristbombings. Therefore, the investigation of overpressure load produced bythe explosion inside of structure and explosion venting is of greatimportance and practical value.In order to study the overpressure load and explosion venting, thefinite element model was presented for the simulation of explosion in airby using ANSYS/LS-DYNA and the reliability of model and materialparameter was proved. Then, the numerical simulation of explosion in aspace truss structure was carried out. Two problems, spatiotemporalasynchrony of shock waveforms and pressure transmission anddistribution on structure surface, are solved by extracting the shockwaveoverpressure data of the finite points on structural surface firstly, thenusing the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) method. Theimplosion shockwave overpressure in a space truss structure calculationformulas were given. Finally, after introducing the failure results of tollstation in Machangping in Guizhou and verifying the reason by anumerical simulation, this paper put forward the explosion-proofmeasures for space truss structures. Based on the research work of thisstudy, following primary findings were obtained:(1)In close roof space truss structures, shockwave overpressure dueto blast loading tends to accumulate at the top region of the roof, thussuitable hole arrangement on roof and walls is beneficial to reduceshock wave overpressure peak.(2)Increasing structure height, increasing structure geometry size, increasing the distance from explosives to centre structure anddecreasing TNT equivalent can effectively reduce the shock wavestructure overpressure peak in open roof space truss structures.(3)It can’t accurately calculate flat structure internal explosionpressure load with the traditional formula, thus this paper fittedcalculation formula according to the calculation results in a certainrange of structure for research and engineering calculation.(4)A close roof space truss structure with suitable holes arrangementon roof and walls is beneficial to explosion venting.(5)Space truss structure without walls all around did not collapsedafter uncovering roof and has high explosion venting capability, whichused strong structure and weak palisade measure.
