At the end of2011, wind power in China accounted for62,000megawatts (MW)of electricity generating capacity, and China has identified wind power as a keygrowth component of the country’s economy. As part of the environmental goalsincluded in China’s12th Five Year Plan (2011–2015) targets have been set fornon-fossil energy to account for11.4%of the total energy consumption, and for CO2discharge per unit of GDP to reduce by17%.Hohhot is located in the center of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, theprominent features of this arear are: the winter is cold, and frost-free period is short, diurnal and annual variations of temperature are large, sunshine is adequate; The windin winter and spring is more strong. In this thesis, the study object is the Inner Mongolia Hohhot Xiwubulang windfarm, first of all, it described Hohhot’s economic development and the development ofgrid, and then, analyze projects the relationship with the grid system, the size of theproject and the current development capacity.Secondly, the mast data and the reference meteorological data were used to assesswind energy resources of the project area. The local wind resources belong to theclass three and the wind energy resources are abundant. Then, it analyzed the localwind resources in detail, and through the scheme comparison, the optimal windturbine and the best site layout were determined. After considering all kinds of loss, the annual energy prodution of the wind farm was calculated. Finally, a careful analysis of the economic and social benefits of the project wastaken, through the analysis of the payback period, financial net present value andinternal rate of return and other indicators. It is found that the project has goodsolvency and profitability. In summary, the wind energy at the project location isabundant and the project has good feasibility.
