Recent years, with the rapid development of economy and increase of popularity, theenvironment that historical street relied on is suffering destruction and corrode. The plan forthe protection and renewal of historic street becomes a hot issue in today’s society. During thepractical design process, the traditional method that use single drawing software cannot dealwith a lot of basic data material especially cannot do the effective quantitative analysis toattribute data that connected with geospatial information, and this makes the results of theplanning design have less scientificalness. This task applied GIS technique to the plan of protecting and renewing historic street. Byanalyzing the problems that existed in the protection and renewal of historic street and thegeneral current situation of Yaowan’s historic street, this research put forward the advantagesand disadvantages existed in the current situation. In this research, we taking the buildingsinside the street as the object of study and evaluating the value of each building by the way ofsuperposition factor analysis. This research is based on the result of building’s evaluating, andit comes up with tactics of street building’s protecting and renewing system. The researchconsulting the buffer analysis to the protective range of historical building and it is based onthe design philosophy of traditional planning to make sure the adjustment of land usestructure, the integration of traffic system, the improvement of landscape environment, theorganization of cultural tourism and the control of building height, to guide the protection andrenewal of historical and cultural street from the rational angle and to provide reference valuefor future digital technique’s application in other urban planning and design.
