The design and development of air-conditioning equipment is a complicated process, introducing computer simulation technology to aid development has been adopted since along time. As a new unified modeling language, Modelica which rose at the beginning ofthis century has received more and more attention in the field of complex systemsimulation for its significant features. This paper attempts to model and simulate inverterair-conditioning system on a Modelica-based software platform, in order to aid thedevelopment of inverter air conditioners. In this paper, the main features of Modelica, being a unified modeling language, hasbeen analyzed first, and also a Modelica-based software platform, Mworks, has beenintroduced. The diathermancy and fluidity of compressor, condenser, evaporator andelectronic expansion valve has been researched in detail, and their mathematical modelshave been built through appropriate simplification. The calculation methods ofthermodynamic properties of refrigerant have been researched, and the calculation modelof thermodynamic properties has been built using correlative expression fitting method. The electromagnetic coupling inside asynchronous motor has been researched, the modelof asynchronous motor has been built in the two-phase stationary coordinate system inthe form of circuits, and also the model of frequency control of motor speed has beenbuilt.Based on the mathematical analysis, the models of main parts and auxiliarycomponents have been built on Mworks combined with the features of Modelica, andthen the whole model of inverter air conditioner. At last a frequency control algorithmhas been simulated using the model, and operational characteristics of the frequencyconversion air conditioning system have been gained, verifying the practicality of themodel.
