With the rapid development of national economy and increasing demand for thepower of the society, existing scale of electric power system unceasingly expands, theinternet of power grid strengthen constantly, which allows short-circuit current level alsorapidly increased. Big short-circuit current in power system will cause serious harm. Inorder to improve the security, stability and reliability of power network operation, limitthe short circuit to reduce the impact of electric equipment by the short circuit currentbecome an urgent need. Fault current limiter is a technical economy excellent solution forhe present study on fault current limiting. Under this background, this paper puts forwarda kind of magnetic flux constraint fault current limiter scheme.This paper first introduced the topology and basic principle of magnetic fluxconstraint fault current limiter, and simulation shows its validity of the current limit. Also,the parameters of the fault current limiter in actual distribution network system wereoptimized from the Angle of technical economy. The join of this type of fault currentlimiter reduced parameters requirement for electrical and thermal stability of other relatedpower equipment, prolong the service life of electrical equipment. Solve the problem ofinsufficient capacity of the existing circuit breaker, and meet the requirements of thedevelopment of electric power system quickly.This article has done the theoretical analysis and the simulation research for the faultcurrent limiter on mechanism of system transient stability influence. The obtained result isthat the magnetic flux constraint fault current limiter can improve the transient stability;The magnetic flux constraint fault current limiter can offer more time margin for thecorrect action by the relay protection.At last, for the engineering application requirements of10kV level magnetic fluxconstraint current limiter, this paper gives a discussion in three aspects (system shortcircuit fault current monitoring method, fault current limiter device of power electronictechnology and fault current limiter and relay protection and cooperate with each otherresearch status) and conclud relevant conclusions, provide technology reference for futureengineering prototype manufacture.
