| Because of the increasing threats of traffic accidents, more researchers focus on asubject, which is how to introduce the active safety techniques and driver assistancesystems to help the drivers to detect and avoid the potential risks on the road, reduce theintension of driving and improve the comfortableness. In the research and developmentof driving assistance systems, it can be more convenient, controllable and secured byusing a driving simulator. An experimental system of lateral driver assistance is established. As afundamental experiment platform, it can be a useful tool of verification in the follow-updevelopment of driver assistance algorithm.Firstly, according to the existing basis of hardware and software of the dynamicdriving simulator, the control software of the experimental system is designed with thestructure of modularization. The integration of the information flow among the controlsoftware, the dynamics model of vehicle and the driving simulator is achieved. Thedriving scenario used for the experiment is set up with the traffic flow.Secondly, the algorithms of two typical lateral driver assistance systems arepresented and analyzed, including the Lane Departure Warning system and the LaneKeeping System. These two assistance systems are implemented in the control softwareof the experimental system with Matlab/Simulin.At last, experiments about these two lateral driver assistance systems are doneusing the established experimental system. The experiment results are analyzed andcompared with the real road experiment done before. According to the results, theperformance of the driving characteristics of the experimental system has goodconsistency with that on real road. So this experimental system can be of great use forthe earlier-stage development of the lateral driver assistance algorithm. The LaneKeeping system is tested, using the established experimental system. Incorporation withthe questionnaire from the drivers, the performance of the system is evaluated. |
