Since ancient times, people have used to live by waters. With the development ofsociety and economy, many of the rivers flowing through cities no longer play the roleof transportation and production. In modern society, they are in the city bearing newresponsibility as a display of the appearance of cities. Therefore," landscape" hasbecome the focus of city planning and construction.This paper discusses the building of landscape artistic conception. By the analysisof the modern city waterfront landscape of the three elements, nature, culture, andlandscape, the modern waterfront artistic elements have been conducted in a detailedanalysis and summary. And the city landscape spatial impression has been typicallyapplied analyzed. Thus landscape artistic conception has been explored in a harmoniousidea and method. At the same time, through a naturalized landscape application, thelandscapes of water, stones, plants, ornaments and ground merge more organicallytogether. In this way, they show their landscape characteristics in different scenic spotdivisions. From the point of view that theory guides practice, to explore the modern citylandscape with ecological conservation and sustainability for the purpose of the study,to create a more human nature, ecological landscape, city residents shall enjoy a morescientific, civilized, natural and harmonious life.This paper discusses the overall planning of waterfront landscape design. Thebuilding principles and methods of artistic conception beauty have been posed. And bysetting the planning and design of Xianyang City along the upper reaches of WeiheRiver as an example, the landscape planning and design of artistic conception have beensummarized.
