Research On The Artistic Conception Of Landscape

In China, theoretical system of landscape architectural planning and designing is forming, further developing from different angles. In such an opening era where various kinds of cultures are dramatically colliding and integrating, it is quite significant and feasible to consciously promote traditional theories to change and to be modernized. The artistic conception, which deeply roots in classical arts and the cultural psychology of the nation, is a key category of Chinese classical aesthetics. At the same time, the artistic conception is closely related to the landscape development. Therefore, researches on the artistic conception of landscape bring out great theoretical and applied significance.Firstly, the thesis defines the connotation of landscape's artistic conception after a thorough study on landscape aestheticism and profound comparisons of artistic conception from different angles. Then the thesis concludes that artistic conception is the ultimate goal of landscape aesthetics. Secondly the thesis studies the fundamental psychological elements of landscape esthetics including apperception, sensibility, comprehension, association, and imagination, and analyzes their respective and cooperating work. Then the thesis summarizes the key psychological law and working principle of landscape aesthetics, which is the inherent basis of carrying on the artistic conception of landscape. Thirdly, the thesis comes to the process of landscape esthetics and researches into the information transmission and the media of information-landscape symbol. It deeply illustrates the double connotation of landscape symbol involving material and spiritual. The landscape symbol and its connotation are regarded as the material and spiritual basis of the artistic conception of landscape. Fourthly, on the base of the above studies, the thesis, in terms of significance, logic, and format, achieves the abstract concept and concrete techniques of the creation of landscape's artistic conception. Finally, the thesis presents the author's exploratory thinking on the value of the artistic conception of landscape in landscape design and its development in the future.
