Compare And Study The Performance Of Honeywell TitanTMPolymer Modified Asphalt Mixtures

The road development is facing serious problems, such as increasinglyheavy traffic, severe overload, excessive greenhouse gas emission, harshweather and so on, which raise special requirements to the road while ordinaryasphalt mixture can not meet the demand s of pavement performance, energysaving and environmental protection. Honeywell TitanTMpolymer modifier (Honmodifier)can increase the pavement road performance effectively and meet theenvironmental protection requirement. However, its comprehensive performancehas not been systematically studied.In this paper, the Hon modifier is the main object of study. The addmanners and various kinds of modifier/modified asphalt mixture were comparedand studied. First, the best modification process of Hon modified asphaltmixture were determined. Then, the best Hon modifier was determined bycomparing there kinds of modifiers, namely, Hon7205, Hon7376and Hon7686.Third, the applicability to four gradings,AC-13,AC-20,AC-25and SMA-13,were analyzed by comparing its performance with matrix asphalt mixture and SBS modified asphalt mixture. Further, the advantage of Hon modified asphaltmixture over SBS modified one was studied and the practical application valueof Hon modifier were discussed through comparing it with common asphaltmixtures available in the domestic market.The result shows that the asphalt mixture possesses the best performancewhen the uniformly mixed aggregate and asphalt mixture was added with0.3wt%Hon modifier. Hon7205modified asphalt mixture shows the bestmodifying effect and can be used to mixtures with every kind of grading. Inaddition, the road performance of Hon7205modified asphalt mixture is close tothat of SBS modified one and it has environmental protection property and highpractical application value.
