Research On The Drive Simulator System For Road Traffic Safety Education

Road traffic safety is concerning about people’s lives and property safety also about theeconomic and social development. The traffic safety consciousness of road traffic participantsstill relatively weak, suffered heavy casualties and property losses. While the current roadtraffic safety education mainly use the passive didactic way with text and pictures, and thecurrent driving simulator mainly to train drivers the driving skills with few education functionof traffic accident or emergency, and without the stereo vision effect.For it, this paper presents a method to build a safty education system based on thedriving simulator with stereo vision and virtual road emergency and accident simulation,based on the technology of driver’s behavior discriminant, and real-time virtual scenegenerating of the emergency road traffic situation and the virtual accident, to makeparticipants having "personally experience" of traffic accident, and keep the safty in mind. Sothe validity of safty education would be enhanced.Firstly discuss the general diagram of building the simulator’s structure, electroniccontroll system and the virtual road with defferent weather environment, based on the generalrequirement analysis and the technology of stereo vision and optimization between theprocessing speed and the details of models.With the demand analysis of training and examination for the driver’s fast response toemergency traffic situation, presents a method to build the real-time virtual scene with randomobstacle on the driver’s operation behavior.Then presents a method to build motion and transform simulation of the virtual accidentcar or obstacles with the calculation of collision kinematics and dynamics. With the simulator,driver can experience the virtual accident with acident examples, crash sound and relativetraffic guide etc, it provide an excellent safty edication effect.The research result is uased to the project of virtual safty education from the ChinaMinistry of Public Security, and safty education system with the simulator has been used inseveral traffic security education halls of Shandong public security, the excellent effect andthe validation of the system technology has benn verified.
