Bamboo, which has the advantages of short growing period, hightensile strength and good toughness, renewable and biodegradableperformance, is a kind of construction material with properties of highefficiency and low energy consumption. But bamboo also hasshortcomings of compressive strength, durability and crack, which affectits widespread use. Especially bamboo structures or scaffolds made oforiginal bamboo are easy to crack along the grain when climate gets dry.And the connection of bamboo points has always been the key issue ofaffecting the security and durability of bamboo structure. These twoproblems seriously affect the overall strength of bamboo, consequentlyaffect the overall safety and durability of bamboo structures or scaffolds.This dissertation focuses on the mechanical properties of bambooreinforced with CFRP or wire in different ways, using experimentalresearch analysis method, to find out the better strengthening methods,which can provide reference for engineering applications.Aiming at different strengthening modes with CFRP and wire, thisdissertation researches the tensile strength, compressive strength andbending strength of bamboo before and after reinforcement, and get theimprovement percentage of mechanical properties by analyzing test dataand test failure behaviors, then put forward effective strengthening mode.In order to test the shear strength of reinforced bamboo connection nodes,the test method for shearing test of bamboo point was developed anddesigned, to get the better strengthening method of bamboo with differentCFRP reinforcements. The result of this paper can provide reference for improving thedesign and construction of green bamboo structures or scaffolds, toimprove the overall safety and durability of bamboo structures orscaffolds.
