Recently, tower collapse and power line disconnection accidents caused by icing in power transmission line cause a serious threat on safe operation of power system. Lots of researches have been done on icing, anti-icing and deicing in power transmission line at home and abroad. But there is a few research on DC short circuit deicing of icing power transmission line of voltage at220kV and above. Based on high voltage high power thyristor rectifier technology, the long distance transmission line DC deicing power source is the Technical Development Trend.220kV Wanhu I overhead line in Hugang County Gangzhou City Jiangxi province is the application object in this paper, developed a movable high voltage high power thyristor deicing device.First, through the researches of power transmission line deicing at home and abroad at present, this paper concluded that DC short circuit deicing is suitable for the power transmission line which voltage is220kV and above. Through the load characters and constructed simulation platform, concluded that10kV/15MW high voltage deicing device can meet the deicing requirement of power transmission line well. After the deicing device’s output characteristics determined, through the component selection, control system, trigger system and protection system design, completed the design of high voltage high power deicing device which based on thyristor rectifier. After the device was produced, through the delivery tests and field tests, concluded that the condition of control system is good, it can carry out all kinds of protection, and output characteristics meet the deicing requirement on the test ground.Finally, the deicing device operated in220kV substation in Hugang County Gangzhou City Jiangxi province, it’s stable and reliable, and output voltage was lOkV, output current was942A. After1hour continuous operating,73km/220kV overhead line’s temperature rise reach25℃, that’s a very good deicing effect, highly praised by Jiangxi Electric Power Research Institute and Ganzhou Power Supply Bureau, successfully finished the site acceptance test.Through the DC deicing device’s Site Acceptance test, shows that the DC deicing device which output is6pulse thyristor rectifier can meet the requirements of transmission line well at all performance requirements. At last, analysis and summary of the work was given in this paper, and put forward the aspects needed to be improved.
