With the advancement of science and technology, flexible cable-strut structure hasbeen widely used, especially in the aerospace, civil engineering and other fields.However, due to the initial project on shape control of the flexible cable-strut structureis manually operated by staff to finish, it is complicated to operate and prone toaccidents, so that we can not real-time monitor the changes of displacement, speed andacceleration of flexible cable-strut structure. To this end, the basic application ofintelligent control of flexible cable-strut structure is studied in this paper, anddeveloping an experimental system of the flexible cable-strut structure’s shape control.First, this paper describes the research and development of the flexible cable-strutstructure’s shape active control, makes the main problems encountered in research.Then, by summing up the experience of previous studies and the current requirementsof flexible cable-strut structure’s shape control, an experimental system of the flexiblecable-strut structure’s shape control is designed. The experimental system hasmonitoring and controlling functions to flexible cable-strut structure’s changes onshape.Then, this artical presents the basic theory of PID control and basic features of theflexible cable-strut structure, meanwhile, depicts how to build a flexible cable-strutstructure and model the finite element model of this structure by ANASYS software.Eventually, through the simulation of PID control, flexible cable-strut structure’s shapecontrolling is completed, and PID controlling parameters of this structure is been for.Finally, the paper introduces the basic functions and operating methods ofexperimental analysis software, Photo Modeler. Then, through doing experiments, thebasic performance of the experimental system which is flexible cable-strut structureshape control is verified, and the shape controlling curve of this experimental system isgiven.
