Although gear driving is taking an very important role in modern power transmission system, existing gear boxes have the construction of direct mechanical contact, whose disadvantages are noisy, complicated lubrication and easy to produce vibrations to be damages and so on. Especially for the occasions with the requirement of big gear ratio, the mechanical multi-speed gears are needed, which makes the shortcomings of mechanical gear transmission even more obviously. In this paper, the construction of a novel magnetic gear, which has big transmission ratio and no direct mechanical contact between the driven axis and load axis, is proposed. The principle of the gear ratio is introduced by the example of gear whose transmission ratio is1:25. Two dimensional element static and dynamic simulations is done by using of finite element analysis software ANSYS on the base of the principle of variable reluctance permanent magnetic gear. The theory of star torque is proposed by analyzing the distribution of magnetic field line and the features of changing torque. The theory can be used in electric drive equipment such as reluctance machine and so on with the further improvement.In addition, finite element simulation experiments are accomplished by changing some parameters of the variable reluctance permanent magnetic gear and curves are plotted about the relationship between the parameters and biggest torque. In considering the actual process of the project level we got the best parameters of the variable reluctance permanent gear and structural improvement. At last another two innovative structures are proposed on basis of experiences in designing of reluctance rotor in the past and next step research work was put forward.A more complete system analysis of the variable reluctance permanent magnetic gear was firstly come forth in the paper. The theory could help for designing and manufacturing, in the future, of the variable reluctance permanent magnetic gear in some extent.
