Short-limb shear wall structure which allows the building layout more flexible, and the structure more subject to the reasonable force, has been widely used in China’s new buildings, especially in China’s high-rise residential construction. Compared with the traditional shear wall structure, the wall limb lateral stiffness and carrying capacity are lower, and the ductility is less. Besides, the short-limb shear wall structure which is used to withstand the lateral stiffness and the vertical force component, is easily damaged under a strong external force (such as the rare earthquake), because of the complex form of the force. These weak parts of the beam structure are liable to be damaged. With the improvement of the theory and technology, much attention has been devoted to the building energy dissipation damping. Therefore, the stuty on the short-limb shear wall structure is significate, such as, seismic dampers, viscous dampers, less the seismic response of a small structure, improvement of the overall seismic performance of the structure to avoid the overall destruction of the structure. On the basis of the present technology of energy dissipation, the thesis systematically describes the type of performance and mechanical model of the viscous dampers, the equivalent linearization of the viscous dampers, and the equivalent damping ratio and damping parameters. Besides, the thesis detailedly introduces the dynamic analysis method for energy dissipation structures, such as the analysis of fast nonlinear analysis method (FNA).The thesis takes the residential building in a short-limb column shear as the study objects, using SAP2000structural analysis program to establish a short-limb column shear model and viscous dampers energy dissipation structure model, the modal analysis method of analysis Both three-dimensional structural model, since the vibration characteristics: then input El Centro wave, Taft wave and artificial seismic wave, the time-history response under the two structural models in the role of multi-earthquake and in the rare earthquake Analysis. By comparing the displacement response of structures under seismic action, speed of response, acceleration reaction and viscous damper hysteretic behavior, quantitative analysis to investigate the damping effect of the viscous dampers structure. Location settings, angle settings and component support mode settings of the viscous dampers in the structure were discussed.Structure analysis shows that the shear wall structure in the viscous dampers can effectively reduce the seismic response of energy dissipation components and the seismic energy input to the main structure. The results of these analysis have the instructive meaning in application of the structure of energy dissipation technology.
