Urban railway vehicle obtains electrical power from catenary by pantograph which isplaced on the top of the vehicle. The head of pantograph connects with contant wire ofcatenary, meanwhile collects current from it, which is called current-collection. Theconnect stability between pantogranph and catenary is primary for current collection ofurban rail vehicles.This paper is focused on the stability of currernt collection based on the static anddynamic perfomace of pantograph. The main work included: the static performance ofpantograph was studied and a method of optimizing pantograph was development. Andthen dynamic performace of pantograph-catenary system based on contact force wasstudied. The dynamic optimization of pantograph was made based on what is achieved inthe former work. At last, an experimental plan of pantograph was provided. The details areas follows:(1) The current-collection system of urban railway vehicle was completely analyzedat first. The structure of pantograph and catenary was fully analyzed, especial the operationprinciple of pantograph, referring to literature and measurement in the laboratory. And then,the current collection criterion was provided and its requirement of dynamic performce ofpantograph was analyzed.(2) The calculation model of pantograph was obtained. The equivalent mass of mainparts of pantograph was studied, and the main factors as well as subordinate factors whichwhich had affects on the static performance were obtained. The horizon and verticaldisplacement of pantograph head was calculated out by analyzing track motion ofpantograph head. All above was the basis of studying pantograph-catenary system.(3) A calculation model of pantograph-catenay system is established and analyzedbased on the cotact force between them. The affect of pantpgraph parameters on stability ofcurrent-collection in dynamic situation was obtained; the method to impove the quality pf corrent collection of catenary-pantograph system was developed. Based on the above, theparagraph was optimized.(4) The stable and unstable regions of pantograph-catenary system were obtainedthough the investigation of the system. The optimized pantograph and catenary were usedfor exemplifying.(5) Accroding to what is achieved from the former research; an experimental plan ofpantograph was obtained. There are static and dynamic tests in the plan. The dymamiccurrent collection process was simulated. And the main technical parameters of pantographduring current collection process was measured, meanwhile the corrent perfornence wasevaluated. The test bench can provide references on the pantograph’s optimition and thedevelopment of high quality pantograph.
