Wind load is one of the main loads in structure design. It is very important to knowwell about the wind load and its effect. Wind load code is the basis of wind resistantdesign. It has important meaning to improve Chinese code through comparing differentcountries or regions’ wind load codes and mutual learning. In the field of wind resistantdesign, European standard which Chinese scholars studied less is taking a leadingposition in the world.New wind load code of Australia/New Zealand which have justissued in2011has a better timeliness. Chinese wind load code is also under revising. Inorder to get some useful conclusions, main provisions and parameters in the wind codesof China (GB5009-2001), Australia/New Zealand (AS/NZS1170.2:2011) and Europe(EN1991-1-4:2005) were compared and researched. The main contents include:First of all, contrast research was conducted on the main parameters which affectmean wind load in the codes of China, Australia and Europe. The main parameters affectmean wind load including basic wind velocity (pressure), shape coefficient, coefficient ofwind pressure varying with the height and local terrain coefficient. Mean wind responseof a flexible structure and a rigid structure were calculated. Then, formulas which were used to calculate structural response under the fluctuatingwind were derived. The main parameters which affect fluctuating wind load in the threecodes were compared, including wind spectrum, spatial correlation coefficient andturbulence intensity. And the fluctuating wind induced response under different windspectrums and different spatial correlation coefficients were calculated throughexamples.Their influences on the structural response were analyzed. Mean wind responseand fluctuating wind response were also be compared. Finally, according to the three wind load codes, the load and response of the flexiblestructure and the rigid structure were calculated respectively, and the comparativeanalysis was carried out. Across-wind equivalent static wind load of the flexible structurewas calculated according to the code of Australia/New Zealand. And it was comparedwith along-wind equivalent static wind load.
