Expressway extension projects generally are constructed indeveloped region for several reasons: firstly, the traffic volume is large.Secondly, the transport channel traffic volume is huge as well, and theroad parallel to project always does not have the condition of shunt,therefore the traffic paralysis would occur once diverging and causes ahuge social impaction. So it is necessary to ensure capacity of lanesduring highway reconstruction and extension period. Traffic capacity andconstruction must be focused at the same time, so the “total cost” shouldbe controlled at the minimum level.In this paper, based on the existing domestic expressway extensionprojects, traffic organization mode is studied. In detail, in heavytraffic condition, the two-way four lanes are kept during highwayextension. In other words, the sub-projects can meet the trafficorganization demands and its key technique in limited-shunt condition,at the same time, an analysis on security technology in rebuiltconstruction area is studied. The main points of the conclusion are shownas followed:1.Different With the Shenyang-Dalian full split mode and theShanghai-Nanjing partly shunt mode, the author put forward trafficorganization mode under heavy traffic conditions, which maintain thetraffic condition and no forced shunt.2. There are three stages in traffic organization program: the stageof traffic organization scheme, traffic organization design stage and thesetting stage for temporary facilities. Through analysis of these threestages, traffic organization is focused through the whole expansionproject process.3. At the entire project level, determines the traffic organizationscheme, and puts forward traffic organization design plan and its relevant security technology after analyzing different construction proceduresand maintenance of four lanes mode.Finally, based on the traffic organization of Expresswayreconstruction, this paper designs traffic organization of Fokaiexpresswayt. Also the study on traffic organization and projectevaluation of expressway works proves to be right.
