Multistage centrifugal pump is widely used in the field of industrial, civil, building water supply and so on. The internal flow characteristic influences the working performance of multistage centrifugal pump directly, and has an effect on the manufacture, which can’t be ignored. As the traditional design method is dependent on the experience and theoretical calculation, the actual work performance is often unable to meet production requirements, which requires the need of performance prediction and optimization method. With the development of computer technology, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) provides feasibility for the pump performance prediction.In this paper, a multistage centrifugal pump is studied as the research subject. Through3D modeling, meshing, the complex turbulent flow field of the multistage centrifugal pump under the design and off-design condition is simulated by commercial CFD software Fluent, and the pressure and velocity distribution of different stages is analyzed. By comparing the calculated head and efficiency with the experimental data, the simulation accuracy is determined and the influence of structure parameters on the performance multistage centrifugal pump is discussed. Combined with genetic algorithm, the target function is constructed to acquire the satisfying structure parameters. And then the performance prediction of the optimized pump is discussed by Fluent. This paper provides the theoretical basis for the design, performance prediction and structure optimization of multistage centrifugal pump.
