Nowadays, the energy shortage and environment pollution problem is becoming more and more serious in the world. People are paying more and more attention to the new energy sources and sustainable development. Wind, nuclear, biomass, tidal and solar energy have become major development and research objects of new energy sources. Among them, one of the most significant developing directions is solar energy for its clean and green, no pollution, and the use of high value. There is no problem of energy shortage of solar energy. So its advantages have laid its irreplaceable position in the energy replacement. However, changes of environment conditions have the large impact on the conversion efficiency of photovoltaic power generation system. Therefore, improving the efficiency of photovoltaic power generation system becomes the focus of solar energy researches.This paper has researched on the solar photovoltaic power generation system and the maximum power point tracking technology. Beginning from the basic solar battery and its operating characteristics, designed the structure of photovoltaic power generation system and build system model in Matlab. Meanwhile, the paper researched the maximum power point tracking technology. Then, put new maximum power point tracking algorithm into the system model for validation and analyzed of simulation results.First of all, according to the equivalent circuit of solar battery, the paper analyzed its working characteristics in different environment conditions. In the second, the paper researched the maximum power point tracking technology. This paper has researched the classic maximum power point tracking algorithm, including constant voltage method, disturbance and observe method and conductance incremental method. And the new algorithms were designed, such as the improved conductance incremental method, fuzzy control method and fuzzy neural networks method. These three methods were realized in system model. And the simulation results could be observed through scopes. Eventually, the system reached the good control effects, including a short control time, no overshoot and following the environment changes immediately. Finally, this paper designed the hardware and software of photovoltaic power generation system. According to the system model in Matlab, the hardware was designed in Protel. The fuzzy control system was designed by using FuzzyTech and was converted to C language.The paper presented the simulation model and algorithms in detail and made a detailed analysis of experiment results and introduced the design process of hardware circuit and software program.
