Nowadays the wireless sensor network technology is a very popular research spot in the field ofinformation technology, which has broad application prospects. With the improving level of thecomponents and deep research on the related communication protocols, in the smart grid field, wireless sensor network technology has become increasingly important. The smart grid is arelatively complex system with high security, which is performed in a number of ways, such assafety of power generation equipment, security of transmission and distribution lines,as well as datatransmission security. In order to guarantee the security of the smart grid, two main researches areconducted: a fast and accurate method of positioning the bad distribution line and quick nodelocalization of abnormal data detected on the transmission and distribution wires.(1) After studying the characteristics of the zero-sequence current in the neutral pointnon-grounding system and the system in which the neutral point connects the ground via the arcsuppressor loop, the author proposes a new way to postion the malfunction based on the wirelesssensor network to avoid the inadequacies of traditional ways of analyzing the zero-sequence currentvalue and direction in the fast and accurate location of distribution line faults. With the newmethod, the accruate positioning of malfunction can be realized by calculate the ratio of fault currentmagnitude difference. One is between the nodes that are adjacent to the fault phase, the other isbetween the nodes that aren’t.The method is now simulated and analysed.(2) Quick node localization of abnormal data detected on the transmission and distributionwires.Given the practical characteristics of the smart grid transmission and distribution lines, theauthor uses the classic localization algorithm Dv-hop and designs a jump-step model. Then he usesthe hyperbolic positioning mode to calculate the coordinates of the unknown node.At last, the authorconducts the simulation to analyze the performance of the method.
