With the energy and environmental issues become more prominent, as a new type of renewable energy, wind power for its clean, renewable, pollution-free advantages, more and more attention has been paid. But the wind farm’s power output fluctuates with the fluctuations of wind speed, when the proportion of wind power in the power system is small, the fluctuations of wind farm power output has a small impact to the entire system, but with the development of wind power, the proportion of wind farm in the power system become bigger and bigger, fluctuations of wind power caused by speed changes also significantly affected the system’s active power balance, the active power control of system will be more difficult. On one hand, the paper research on the active power dispatch for large scale wind farm, this paper proposed a new approach combining priority list (PL) with binary particle swarm optimization (BPSO) to solve unit commitment (UC) problem with wind power and adopted Lambda-iteration method combining with dichotomy algorithm to solve the economic dispatch (ED) problem. On the other hand, the paper research on the problem that when the capacity of the wind power together with the other new energies is small, they integrate into the power grid in the form of microgrid, the paper proposed improved pso method to solve the economic dispatch problem in microgrid. The simulation results showed the correctness and the affectivity of the proposed method.
