The power equipment used on ships can not be constituted without a condenser which isthe guarantee of its safe working, the sailing, the working and the reliability of fight of theships is all concerned with whether the condenser is working well. The characteristics of thecondenser which is used in ships are frequent changing in temperature, various load, complexsystem of the loading and the tube sheet used to invalid. Therefore, there is lots of practicaland necessary significance in the researching of the strength of the condenser used in ships.In this paper the condenser is modeled by the method of the simplification of themodeling of the marine equipment contract with its characteristic of the structure, thegeometrical model and the finite element model is established. The structure of the condenseris simulated by the way of finite element, and the characteristic of the strength of thecondenser is inspected.Because the method of finite element is an approximate calculation, the condenser istested by the aim of checking the correctness of the calculation. The experiment is done witha reduced scale model in consideration of the machining cost and the experiment condition,the reduced-scale model and the distorted model is established by the law of similarity.Because the Mechanical relation between the distorted model and the original model is notcompletely follow the law of similarity, so the mechanical relation between the distortedmodel and the original model is researched in this paper, and the relation of the stress and thetransformation between the distorted model and the original model is fitted by function.After the correctness of the calculation is checked by the experiment, the strength of thestructure is checked, the strength of the tube sheet is checked by the JB4732-95, and theresidual stress which is caused by the expanded of the tube is checked.The thickness of the tube sheet of the condenser is optimized by the condition of thesafety of the strength of the condenser, the thickness of the double tube sheet is got, and theoptimized model is checked about its strength, finally, the model of the condenser usedinships is got.
