Along with the progress of the society and the improvement of people’sliving standard, automobiles have became indispensable tools in people’s life andwork. At the same time, the requirement of people is more and more high, it isencouraged to the development of automobiles industry which is one of thenational pillar industries. However, during the automotive production process,the most difficulty is how to solve the wrinkle and rupture problems ofautomobile cover parts in forming and the springback problems which caninfluence the assembly process directly after forming.The forming process of automobile cover parts is the plastic deformationprocess which has large deflection and large deformation. It is involved that theforming defect problems of metal board which is caused by the elasticdeformation flow, plastic deformation flow, deformation sclerosis of material andso on in the complex stress state during the deep drawing and bending. And thisis a very complex problem which involves mechanics modeling and analysis. It isdifficult to estimate the correctness of mold design before the actual productionfrom the only point of the production practice experience. The problems will beexposed only after components manufacturing and processing. It will causetremendous difficulties during the mold commissioning, and even cause mouldscrap.This paper takes the central passageway of automobiles as an example, thecentral passageway has some characteristics like complex surface, high boundary,big forming curvature which can cause wrinkling and rupture during forming andbig springback amount after forming. Applying the numerical simulation method, we do some numerical simulation with the finite element analysis softwareETA/Dynaform5.6. It is based on the forming limit diagram (FLD) and wallthickness distribution of the automobiles’ central passageway to study andcompare the influences of some parameters such as mold surface, burden surface,holder forced, draw bead and etc on the forming. We can obtain a group of idealforming parameters by simulating and analyzing repeatedly. It is applied toproduce the components which are match with the simulation formed parts, andto validate the accuracy of simulation outcome during actual production. And onthis basis, it is researched repeatedly on the rational formed parts to analyze thespringback amount and to trim and compensate the die, until to get reasonablecomponents without the forming defects finally which just have little springbackamount, It provides the certain theory basis for actual production and applicationof the automobiles’ central passageway.
