Although the plate heat exchanger is invented later, but it has excellent heattransfer performance, it has been widely used in the peroleum, electric power,chemical engineering and other industries. The fouling will reduce the heat exchangerefficiency of plate heat exchanger, increase the pressure drop, cause waste of energy.This paper adopts the solution contain some dirt substance as the cooling water ofplate heat exchanger, experimental study the fouling characteristics.Firstly, the BRO.O15F plate heat exchanger are studyed for characteristics ofcrystallization fouling. The certain concentration of CaCO3solution and CaSO4solution are made as cooling water of plate heat exchanger. The exoerimental ofCaCO3solution are made for two kinds of preparation methods, the fouling isobserved under scanning electron microscope. The result found the foulingcharacteristics were different of two kinds of method of preparation of CaCO3solution in plate heat exchanger, the SEM is used for observation of two kinds ofmethod of preparation found the fouling has differert morphology. The CaSO4fouling is different in the plate corrugated different position.Secondly, the Songhua River water as the cooling water in BRO.O15F plate heatexchanger. Studying the fouling characteristics in different conditions, the fouling isobserved under scanning electron microscope. The result show that the fouling arerestrained with increasing flow rate, under the different temperature of cooling water,the most suitable for microbial growth temperature has the maximal foulingresistance. The SEM is used for observation found the fouling piece attachment, themixed fouling is cosituted conductive material such as metal oxides and conductivematerial such as an inorganic salt crystallization.The last, according to the available experimental crystallization fouling date,particulate date and mixed fouling date of this BRO.O15F plate heat exchanger, contrasring analyze characteristics of three fouling. The result shows that magnesiumoxide nano particles fouling has the greatest effect on fouling thermal resistance onplate heat exchange. Particulate fouling resistance is bigger than crystallizationfouling and mixed fouling resistance, particulate fouling scaling rate is faster thancrystallization fouling and mixed fouling. The Songhua River water to produce mixedfouling resistance and scaling rate is the smallest and most slowly.
