As energy shortages and fossil energy use in the development process caused serious environmental pollution, ecological destruction and other issues, biomass as a renewable energy, has been a research focus all over the world. However, The density of biomass is relatively loose, with inconvenient transportation and storage problems. Biomass densification forming an effective solution to the problem While improve efficiency in the use of biomass, effectively reduce the direct environmental pollution caused by burning. The main purpose of this paper is designing a new kind of biomass briquette machine named roll type-hemisphere litter biomass compression briquetting machine. Learning from present existing biomass briquette machine (screw extrusion, ram and piston pressure roller), and combine with biomass of bi-roller of coal briquetting machine. According to the suitable conditions of straw briquette obtained from the experiment, the theoretical basis was found for design the machine. This paper including the following parts and conclusions:1) The corn stalks as raw material was used for experimental study in the cold compression briquetting process. The influences of particle size, moisture content, pressure and compression speed to the biomass granules compressed density and compressive strength was researched by orthogonal experiment. The results show that, the optimum value of the4factors:particle size is less than40mesh, moisture content is15%, presser is10MPa and compression speed is60mm/min.2) To meet the optimal conditions of particle size and pressure. Mathematical model y=-2839.229+54.020x1+281.333x2-2.904x1x2-1.997x22which was related with compressing speed, moisture content and specific energy consumption was built by Quadratic Regression General Rotation Design. When moisture content is18.6%, the compression speed is56.9mm/min, than the specific energy is minimum.3) From the study results before, the optimum value of the4factors:particle size is less than40mesh, moisture content is15%~18.6%, the pressure is10MPa, compression speed is60mm/min; under this4factors, the experiment of cornstalk get density values843.706kg/m3, compressive strength is14.13MPa. A reference is provided for biomass compression molding equipment designed in industry.4) According to the experimental data, the bi-roller of biomass briquetting machine would be designed. The briquetting machinery design mainly include the original motivation part (motor), transmission parts (V-belt transmission, reducer, coupling and intermediate gear), operative part (on the bi-roller) and auxiliary parts.ZSY reducer, CLZ gear coupling and Three-phase AC induction motor(Y series IP44) was selected. The parameter of bi-roller and the distribution of the hemisphere pitwascalculated.5) The roller radius R=200mm, wide L=350mm, the roller each circumference of the corresponding hemisphere pit number is N=19, hemisphere pit layout on the roller surface is5×19, each five is inclined to row in a straight line. The roller diameter of hemisphere pit d=62.4mm, the depth of the hemisphere is H=18mm, the spacing distribution of each hemisphere pit is a=3.7mm, the distance of two rollers is L=1mm. The production capacity of the biomass compression briquetting equipment is3.57t/h.6) Pre-pressure roller was design in this paper and the screw feeding device was replaced and the biomass material upturning phenomenon is prevented. This design leave out the control motor, simplify the compression equipment, reduce energy consumption effectively, and the biomass molding machine total relative volume is about0.804.
