Power Line Carrier Communication, having advantages of low investment andsimple equipment, is characteristic of communications in power system, where powerline serves as the communication channel. Recently, traditional analog power linecarrier communication system can no more meet the demand of ever-developing powercommunication in China. However, by equipping newly developed digital devices inthe power line communication system, and applying technologies like speechcompression, digital multiplex, v.34protocol, high quality and reliability forcommunications in power system can be provided.This thesis first shows a brief introduction of the development and applicationsof power line carrier communication, and then presents the design of a FPGA-basedaudio digital hardware platform, with which an analog power line carrier machine canbe transformed into a digital one. In the mean time, this thesis gives a detailed analysison key technologies including speech compression, digital multiplex, and v.34protocol, on the basis of which an implementation scheme of the FPGA-basedmulti-channel digital multiplexer is devised in conjunction with the existedFPGA-based audio digital power line carrier machine. Moreover, the hardwareimplementation and debugging of speech interface module,speech compressionmodule, telecontrol modem module and v.34modem module of the proposed schemeare performed. Finally, a solution for multi-channel power line carrier communicationsystem is developed.
