Oil mist lubrication technology is a new way of dilute oil lubrication., and it can have the lubricating oil atomized into oil mist particle constantly and effectively and transmitted to the corresponding point through the pipeline. However, the oil lubrication process often exist residual oil mist without being consumed by the frication pair, and part of it will settle and attach to the surface of solids, and part of it will dissipate into the air through the slit of mechanical seal. As the time goes, the oil mist concentration in the air will increase, which will cause environmental pollution. Therefore, the research for the oil mist particle movement through mechanical seal aperture is indispensable. The experiment about the bigger oil mist particle movement through the slit will be studied in this paper. And the oil mist particle movement contains its size changes as well as its concentration.After referring to some relevant materials, the theory of slit flowing, loss of oil mist particle and the measurement method and principle of the particle are understood. Then the research on the bigger oil mist particle movement through the slit is started as the experiment program is made and the laboratory equipment is ready.A lot of data are obtained from the experiment, and some findings are got after further analysis and processing. If the length the slit is60mm, and its distance is respectively0.25mm,0.50mm, also the entry initial average diameter of oil mist particle size can be almost between70μm and80μm, most of the bigger oil mist particle through the slit will condense into oil dropping in the annular aperture and flow out along the slit wall and shaft surface, regardless of the changes of the coming air pressure and wind. Besides, condensation efficiency and the oil drop will become more with the increase of the wind. While if the boundary conditions that the length of slit is20mm,and its distance is respectively0.25mm.0.30mm,0.35mm,0.40mm,0.45mm,0.50mm, and the entry initial average diameter of oil mist particle size can be between4.20μm and5.50μm, the bigger oil mist particle occurred in condensed, and the average diameter of bigger oil mist particle in condensed will reduce as the wind and air pressure increases. In addition to, it can be found that the bigger oil mist particle occurred in condensed, and the average diameter of bigger oil mist particle in condensed will reduce as the distance of the slit increases under the condition of20mm long slit and constant air pressure.
