As the rapid development of the automotive industry and the dramatically increase of vehicle quantity, the number of traffic accidents is enlarging annually in the meantime. According to the official statistics there are more than a million people die in car crashes every year and67%of it are the head-on crashes. Even though as we know that car crashes are impossible to absolutely avoided due to the impactive factors such as driving skills, driving environment, climate effect and the vehicle performance, to lowest the traffic accidents is the long-term research subject that requires the efforts and attentions from everybody all of the world.The initial establishment of the Chinese Safety regulations system of the passenger cars has been marked as of the publishment of the first China car crash regulations "setup rules of passengers protection in head-on crashes"CMVDR294and mandatory regulation "passenger protection in head-on crashes" GB11551-2003. As the improvement of the safety regulation GB11551-2003has been supplied with test types and evaluation indexes of head-on offset crash, index contents and increased limitations. It is the ever-lasting topic for automotive researchers and designers that to adapt regulations with the on-changing automotive industry and to protect passengers in accidents at the greatest extent.Vehicles contain a complex electronic mechanical system, and car crashes are a complicated non-linear mechanical process, it is definitely not easy to optimize vehicle design and make it effectively protect passengers with it. Years after year with the strenuous efforts and continuous innovation of domestic and overseas scientists and engineers the design plans have been accumulated and concluded as:from empirical method to experimental method, from analysis method to simulated method via computer and with all these design plans and the new inventions of crash buffer, energy absorb structure and device, passengers protection in accidents has been extremely improved, which brings the economic and social benefits by deducing both the property loss and injuries and deaths.During the past30years since Hafei Auto founded, various micro-cars, sedans and passenger cars have been produced including brands of Saima, Saibao, Lubao, Zhongyi, Minyi, Xiaobawang, Dabawang etc. With a example of a brand new micro-car which developed and produced in Hafei Auto, this article approaches the head-on crash improvement via a success launch case with the previous experience of head-on crashes, comparative analysis, theoretical modeling and vehicle verification have been applied to make the new car launch successfully.
