With the implementation of the compulsory law for car passive safety, domestic car producers are paying more attention to it. For the car in which a new automatic transmission is used instead of original manual one does not meet the requirements of the popular law in frontal crash test, here the author starting from practical purpose sets up finite element model of the cabin using FEA software. ANSYS, and simulates the frontal crash of it with non-linear finite element analysis software LS-DYNA according to concerned regulations to find the effect that left carling modification brings to cabin energy-absorbing.In the end set up detailed finite element model of the car's frontal part and compare with car frontal crash test to verify the validity of model building method. The model built to study the effect left carling modification brings is also significant to the study of the car crash performance.
