Since the late20th century, photovoltaic technology developed quickly, it is one of the mostimportant core technologies over the21st century, Now, development of Photovoltaic powertechnology and industry is flourishing, the wide use of solar cells will be a feasible way to solve theenergy and environmental protection problems in modern society, but there are still severalproblems remain to be solved in the photovoltaic technology.Thin film solar cells use layers of semiconductor materials only a few micrometers thick.Compared to polysilicon, thin film solar cell ideal conversion rate higher, but also moreenvironmentally friendly. The thin-film solar cells can be used in more flexible applications, suchas so-called solar shingles, roofing materials that double as electricity generators. In solar cell field, the stress should be put on the research for various film solar cells except for improving theefficiency and reducing the cost for crystalline silicon solar cells.Owing to its ideal optical band gap, CdTe is an ideal absorber material for high efficiency, low cost thin film solar cells. At the moment, the commercial leader in this area is a firm calledFirst Solar, which uses cadmium telluride as the film. In this paper, the thesis has investigated thedeposition of CdO/CdTe thin film solar cells by RF magnetron sputtering, Some examples ofcurrent materials research in CdTe PV cells is given and suggestions made as to how these will beimproved in the future. The effects of process parameter on the properties of CdO/CdTe film solarcells have been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, UV-Vis Spectroscopy, Hall EffectMeasurement., SEM,I-V, HG-500, Model6487Picoammeter and so on. Experimental resultindicated that, the structural and optical of thin films get better as the raising of sputtering powerand the lowering of work pressure properly. The properties of CdTe films get better as thetemperature is rise. It is found that a small quantity of Cu-dopant in CdTe thin films causes greatchange in conductivity but only a little on optical band gap. The Ar/O2ratio is key element onproperties of CdO thin films deposited by RF Magnetron Sputtering, the conduction of thin filmsget better and the transmittance become lower as the raising of the Ar/O2ratio. Properly increasethe Ar/O2ratio is beneficial to improve shortwave response and short circuit density.
