CTCS-3is the most advanced train control system in China at present, which has been used successfully on several300km/h high speed railways, such as Wuhan-Guangzhou and Beijing-Shanghai high speed railway. A series of testings must be carried out before putting CTCS-3into operation, including laboratory simulation testing, field testing, integrated testing and commissioning, as well as interoperability testing. All these testings are based on the "Test Cases for CTCS-3Train Control System (v3.0)". Currently the management of the test cases is based on the traditional database, which can only realize the electronic management of test case documents, but cannot realize the management of knowledge contained in the test cases.The Ontology concept is introduced into this thesis to build the knowledge base of CTCS-3test cases with following advantages:firstly it is able to acquire knowledge conveniently and define the relationships among concepts in railway domain precisely; secondly it is able to store knowledge semantics in the format that can be understood and processed by machine, so that intelligent knowledge management tools can be developed; finally it is able to reuse knowledge, which can meet the requirements of knowledge integration and sharing of CTCS-3test cases after the ontology for the test cases is built and coded. The main works of this thesis are as follows:(1) On the basis of analysing the structure and characteristics of CTCS-3test cases, the test cases ontology are built by using protege, and an instance of the ontology is given; the ontology of CTCS-3test case is described by using OWL to realize the semantic description of the ontology;(2) The rules for recommending CTCS-3test cases are extracted according to the testing methodology and working principle of CTCS-3; these rules are presented and stored according to the requirements of Jena, to realize the summarization of knowledge of the rules for using CTCS-3test cases;(3) On the basis of the ontology-based knowledge representation and the rule-based reasoning, a test case recommendation system is developed, and the test case recommendation function of the system is verified.
