In recent years, the earthquake is frequency which brought huge loss on the lives and property of the people, how to improve the seismic performance of road under the earthquake is worth researching that has very important practical significance. The seismic studies about road traffic are mainly focused on bridges and tunnels in the country, however, the researches on seismic performance of the retaining structures along road are seldom and the research results are rare.According to some surveies after the earthquake, the reinforced soil retaining wall has better seismic performance, but its seismic mechanism has not been determined yet. So this paper played research on the dynamic characteristics and influence factors of reinforced soil retaining wall through finite difference software FLAC3D based on a lot of papers. In order to study the dynamic response characteristics and seismic performance of reinforced soil retaining wall preferably, the paper firstly proceeded numerical analysis on the gravity retaining wall basic model, probed the dynamic response characteristics of displacement field and stress-strain field of the ones, and got the monitoring schedule acurve of displacement, velocity and acceleration about some positions through some monitory points, so did the reinforced soil retaining wall basic model. The paper also played some comparative analysis on the dynamic response characteristics between the ones. Then this paper analysed the sensitivity to the seismic performance of reinforced soil retaining wall in terms of seismic intensity, duration of earthquake, vertical seismic wave, retaining wall height, filling, foundation soil, performance parameters and arrangement of geogird respectively. Finally, this article summarized the distinction on seismic mechanism between reinforced soil retaining wall and gravity retaining wall, put forward some measures that could improve the seismic performance of retaining wall from design and construction perspective. But because of the complexity of seismic dynamic analysis and other reasons, some problems adversely need further research.The numerical analysis on dynamic response of retaining wall is influenced by the seismic wave in a great extent. The dynamic response features are obviously different between the different seismic waves. All conclusions of the thesis are base on the seismic waves that are adopted in this paper. Both of the retaining walls dynamic response showed some features such as fluctuation, no specific rules, but the stage division of dynamic response are clearly influenced and decided by the seismic wave form. The dynamic response is mostly consistent in the early earthquake, while the dynamic response is more severe in the main shock stage, which has clear differentiation in this stage. The reinforced soil retaining wall shows better integrity and stability. The analysis results show that the dynamic response characteristics are evidently different between gravity retaining wall and reinforced soil retaining wall because of the difference in structure and acting form.Because of some reasons, there is no the measured data on dynamic response or related experiments data in this paper. Moisture content and geographic conditions, as influencing factors of the retaining wall seismic performance, are not analysed. The design method and evaluation system of retaining wall in high intensity area also is not involved.
