In this thesis, a systematic research on cement mortar has been performed throughwaterborne epoxy resin emulsion, including the workability, mechanical properties, thebond flexural performance and chemically resistant. This study has been designed toprovide some useful information about cement mortar modified by the polymer, whichcould be extensively applied in building engineering.Firstly, Double mixing waterborne epoxy resin emulsion and fly ash were chosenas experimental materials. Considerable assays were performed to examine their impacton the workability of the modified cement mortar. The results demonstrated that theemulsion shows a significant influence of decreasing water. Besides, after being mixed,the density of the modified cement mortar is less than that of benchmark mortar;meanwhile, more bubbles are produced. After mixed with waterborne epoxy emulsion,the rate of bibulous and shrinkage decrease obviously, the setting time delay. Thecompressive strength has drab depressive tendency. For the flexural strength, it begin toreduce at the beginning, after mixed with the best proportion, a peak value appeared,which is much higher than that of the benchmark cement mortar. At the same time,based on the study of the mechanical properties, in order to optimize experimentalconditions, we examine the different maintenance method towards the influence ofmodified cement mortar Based on the study of mechanical properties, we analyze theinfluence of the different interface and the different ratio of epoxy dispersion ofmodified cement mortar towards the flexural strength through the bond bending test.Meanwhile, the bond mechanism is also studied. These results indicated that comparedto natural section, the flexural strength of the mesh interface is higher.Chemical resistance is the major indexes of the mortar durability. When takingemulsion modified mortar into the acid, alkali, and salt solution, the strength wasmeasured after some time of the soaking. The results that the performance of the doublemixed with emulsion and fly-ash has more advantages than the only mixed emulsion.The reason is that epoxy dispersion in the cement hydrates has solidified into film, andthe effect of fly ash makes the performance of the cement mortar improve a lot.
