In the modern production, manufacturing enterprises are under great pressure facing market competition. They have to speed the pace of improvements in production and management mode and incorporate scientific and advanced methods and means into the production process to improve the economic efficiency which would enable the enterprises to be invincible. Today, production scheduling problem has already become an important strategy in enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises.Each enterprise has its own characteristics. So is the workshop production scheduling problem. As to different enterprises, production scheduling methods adopted are probably not the same. This paper analyzes the workshop production scheduling problem of Zhejiang Weixing Metal Product Company Ltd. and solves production scheduling problem theoretically and practically according to the company’s actual situation. Macroscopically speaking, there is only one ERP system in the company’s production process. And production scheduling is not well conducted in the compnay’s management of workshop production. No reasonable production scheduling methods are adopted in any specific workshop. All scheduling are completed through manual intervention. Therefore, the company’s production efficiency is low and production cost is high. Sometimes customer’s orders are not even consistent with the actual production.Through the analyses of the company’s actual production process and product manufacturing process, the above-mentioned workshop production scheduling problem is a hybrid Flow Shop scheduling problem. This paper first conducts a need analysis and an overall structural design of the workshop production scheduling system and then has a genetic algorithm design. After that, actual data are simulated. The paper further analyzes the simulation results, which achieves satisfactory results. At last, development tools are used to realize the scheduling system. After the test, it is found that the production scheduling system enables the company to save production costs and improve efficiency in its production scheduling.
