The voltage is an important indicator to measure power quality. The basic task of thepower system operation scheduling is to guarantee that the voltage approaches rating. Itinfluences the life and the efficiency of the user equipment that the voltage is too high, toolow or deviates from a certain range. The main task of substation is to guarantee that thevoltage satisfy the users demand. In order to improve the voltage quality and reduce linelosses, most of substation has OLTC and reactive compensation shunt capacitor, and500kVsubstation generally has shunt reactors. At present,500kV substation cannot achieve voltageand reactive power integrated automatic adjustment, but by manual adjustment. Therefore, itis necessary to research integrated voltage and reactive power control in a500kV substation. It studied and compared mathematical model, the action situation, advantages anddisadvantages of VQC’s nine·area figure theory、seventeen—area figure theory、fuzzy bordertheory、five-area theory and so on.It elaborated the VQC-2equipment from NARI andexplained the advantages. It introduced the operating procedures and operating procedures ofpower regulator equipment in Hui Zhou. And then it elaborated the principles and controlmode. According to the principles, it proposed general control operation principle, the lockoutconditions and microcomputer control system. The last part pointed out the shortage of substation VQC and the developdirection wasgrid voltage and inactive optimization,it also discussed the functionand structure of gridvoltage and inactive optimization, proposed a plan of utilizingsubstation VQC and opticalfiber communication to constitute grid voltage andinactive optimization.
