Tripod slider universal joint is a new type of equiangular speed universalcouplings, the design and manufacture of it has been gradually became a researchhotspot in the coupling industry. In this thesis, some introductions were given onvirtual design platform for the development research of the product. The platform wasin VRML and Java language development environment, based on virtual technology,took the tripod slider universal joint as an research object, integrated some of thefunctions with three-dimensional modeling software Pro/E, two-dimensional drawingsoftware CAD, analysis simulation software ANSYS and ADAMS, to build the virtualdesign platform from the parametric model design, automatic assembly, experimentalanalysis and testing, optimization of design to data management and other functions asa whole integration, and provide it with a certain intelligent.Firstly, the overall flow of virtual design platform was carried on in this paper,explored the implementation process on the principles and methods for the couplingsvirtual design platform, gave a detailed description on implementation methods of thewhole functional design and various modular design about the virtual platform.Kinematics simulation and analysis of the tripod slider universal joint were carried out,and then the virtual simulation model was established. Followed this, took the sliderand the assembly as an example, introduced the whole process of using VRMLlanguage to build their virtual scene, and described the use of Java programminglanguage to build the virtual design platform and the specific methods to realize itsfunctions in detail. Through the combination of the two languages and the call eachother between programs, and ultimately established the virtual design platform for thecouplings. Finally, through an instance running, gave an informative presentation forthe use and operation process of this platform, Furthermore, the summary and outlookon this research subjects were given in the paper.The platform mainly based on the virtual design, supplemented by the theoreticalanalysis and experimental research, which is the new research methods and technology roadmap, as the final completion of the platform, integrated the functions of design,simulation and optimization, etc. as a whole. The couplings’ stress and strain,deformation under force, the law of motion, forms of damage and service life or otheraspects can be predicted before the actual manufacturing, so that the problems can bedetected and solved ahead of schedule. So as to shorten the design cycle, reduce thedesign costs, improve the product performance and market competitiveness, inaddition, this platform can also be applied to other mechanical products’ development.Through the research of this paper, a solid theoretical and practical basis onfurther develop and improve for virtual design platform of couplings will be laid, and acertain role in promoting the application and development of the virtual designtechnology will be played in China’s industrial production.
